440 ICD Loader Rebuild

Post by CAR » Tue Dec 23, 2008 11:45 am

Hello and Merry Christmas,
Last spring I got this loader from a friend in North Georgia. At first I was going to get it running and use it to do some clearing around the house. After spending some time with it I soon realized that it had a few issues. It has little power, one sprocket needs to be replaced, the left steering clutch does not engage properly, and it needs paint. So I decided to pull it into my shop, which is nothing more than a small corner in my basement, and tear it down. I have never owned or worked on a crawler before, so I am being optimistic in saying, "This should be fun." Here are a few pictures of the beginning.

The Loader.

I'm sure I'll find other problems as I go along, nothing to bad so far. I hope to get a lot done while I'm off this week. More to come.

Craig; I really enjoy seeing pictures and hearing the tales of other peoples crawler rebuilding. It is reassuring to know that I am not the only one who has lost my mind! Merry Christmas to all.
