Disassembling a 350

A few weeks ago a fellow JDcrawler member brought me his 350 for steering clutch work and maybe some rolls. got to looking at it closely and found several reverser bolts loose, several of the frame to clutch housing bolts broken and loose, and the front cross bar to undercarriage rails loose.

so last week i started by removing the canopy and winch.

still scratching my head on this one, for some reason the guy that installed the new chain and pads welded one master pin in. took almost 2hrs to get it out. sorry the pic is a little blurry.

once i had that master pin out it didnt take long to get the tracks split and the nose off.

at some point the previous owner must have had trouble with the dash staying put so he made these bars.

motor was pretty good about coming out, everything unhooked without trouble, worst part was digging the dirt below the inj pump so i could get to the bottom engine bolt.

Yesterday i got the motor out. the block has been patched some time ago.

Today i was able to get the dash, fenders, and blade off. i was also able to get the hyds drained. if i dont get too many interruptions like today i should have the rest dismantled tomorrow.

Verrrry interesting, looks like one picture doesn't work. It looks like the closing "]" (bracket ) is missing in the callout line jsut above the picture showing driving out the master link pin. Not sure what I am looking at, at times on a 350 but still looks good.

you have a typical hammered 350 on you hands,I don't want to discourage you,but I have never seen one stay together once those bolts and housings and crossbar are run loose like that.
the loose reverser bolts wear out the dowels and they never align right again and this in turn destroys the shaft and coupling...among other things.

had to do the same thing to my dads 350 in 02, dad then used it pretty hard for several years before selling it to another fellow JD crawler member. as far as i know the bolts are still tight.
