Source for 450B salvage parts

Post by Leland » Fri Feb 29, 2008 8:59 pm

I may be an owner of a JD 450B after this weekend.

The Dozer needs engine side covers and belly pans.

Does someone know a good source for salvage 450 crawler parts?

Thanks,
Leland

We built our own side plates out of plate steel for the 450s .These were a lot tougher and you notice that the originals are rattleing on there any way .You have to make a small bulge in the one for the alternater as it sticks out an inch plus with a good angle on the bulge area brush slides right past . We torched slots in them and bent the bottoms out on push fam units I had one dozer with pull fan and it was bent top out at the slots .We put our busness logo in them with the torch .These stood out and stood up to some abuse.I am still finding our old Deeres with them on .My Dad made darnd neer anything from steel and later years just hung around the shop making parts .We could carry a coiled up cable locked to the top of the roolbars on dozers without winches .That way you just unlucked the cable and used it .Our operators were hard on machines but our 450s and early 550s were always running becouse of him .Digitup.
