got a 1010 gas with loader. can't remembar where i read it on this forum, but..... it seems to be the majority thought that the loaders as a rule are more used and abused than the dozers.
in my thougt process a loader with street tracks would have a easier life loading dumptrucks, scraping pavement and what not. than say a dozer clearing buiding sites, pushing woods roads in etc.....
i'm sure ramming the bucket into blue clay, snorting and bellowing like a banshee trying to dig in a basement foundation would be another story.
but a guy doing that will be hard on anything he owns. my 2 cents

1010 LOADER OPINION
WISH IT WOULD STAY RUNNING!!!!
A loader is harder on everything due to the increased weight of the machine. A loader is 4,000 lbs heavier at least, plus it will carry another 3,000 of material. Combine all that weight on a machine that is turning very tight all the time loading trucks or whatever and you have a terrible amount of stress.
A dozer crawler by and large just goes back and forth without the extreme turns of a loader, and at a substantially lighter weight.

makes sense lavoy, when you spell it out for me. track was loose on one side when i got it.
probably why the rollers are all chewed up on that side. tight turns heavy loads.
on another note... i wonder how much pulling - pushing difference there is between a 1010 loader with street tracks. and a dozer with grousers. level dry dirt covered ground of course. surely the extra weight of the loader must be to some advantage. and perhaps in the same light a loader with grousers might be more apt to get the gears tore apart due to the extra traction? i know it was easy to start twisting drive shafts on the c-5 treefarmer when i put chains on the front tires. had to quit filling all the chokers

Re: 1010 LOADER OPINION
From what I've seen, it's just the opposite - but perhaps it varies by region. I worked at three Deere dealerships starting late 1960s. Northern NJ and upstate New York. New Jersey has a lot of soft clay soil and all the crawlers held up pretty good.BROKE AGAIN wrote:got a 1010 gas with loader. can't remembar where i read it on this forum, but..... it seems to be the majority thought that the loaders as a rule are more used and abused than the dozers.
In New York, the loaders are just about always in much better condition than dozers - regardless if 1010s, 350s, 450s, etc. Dozers in my area get hammered something awful, pullling logs, stripping shale banks, or pusing hardpan soil. Loaders, on the other hand usually rarely wander into shale banks or the woods.
