JD 350 with no low end grunt

Bought a 350b crawler for working In the woods (has a log arch and winch). Decided to move some dirt and small stumps. Found that when I put the dozer under a load (against a stump) it would just stop. Didn't bog the engine. Just seemed as though something was slipping. Would not even attempt to spin the tracks. My old dozer will push what it is against or sit and spin the tracks. Not sure if the reverser or steering clutches are slipping. The tractor seems to drive and work fine operating in the woods. Steering wise it turns fine left but does "work" to turn right (have to bump the steering lever several times when turning right). I am Sure something is slipping. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not a mechanic but fortunately have friends that are

ALL is not well/normal if all your doing is stepping on the main brake pedal and the left track stops with out killing the engine... your left clutch is slipping like hell ...there is no differential in the ring gear if one side stops (A) the the clutch is released or slipping or (B) a shaft is striped /broken .... get a heavy load in front of it and pull the RIGHT lever and see if the left side stops.... check all adjustments by the book

First thing, you might want to use different terminology. Low end grunt to most people refers to engine torque. If I understand what you are saying correctly, it is a drivetrain problem, not an engine problem.
My guess is your reverser is slipping, but you need to verify it is not the steering clutches. Pull the adjustment covers and watch the brake drums to see if they are turning when the crawler stops moving, but is in gear.
As for your RH brake, that is most likely an adjustment issue. If you have not already done so, get factory parts and service manuals for the crawler before attempting any repairs.

sorry about my choice of words. You are correct, it is not a engine problem but a drive train issue. Power is not getting to the tracks as it should. Drives around fine but when put under a load, just seems to stop moving and engine does not lug at all.

Can you give me any pointers on the best place to pick up tech manuals. Are the ones straight from John Deere the best??

Lavoy to correct you if the track is not turning the brake drum wont turn (unless you have broken final) what you are thinking is look inside the drum and see if the clutch center hub is turning if it is then the steering clutch is slipping if it is NOT turning then the steering clutch is working and your reverser is slipping
