350B radiator oil cooler?

What do the two oil lines on the bottom of the radiator go to? Oil, hydraulics, reverser, power steering? I pulled the radiator to rebuild the water pump and when i removed the two lines red fluid came out. I was under the impression everything but the engine took hydraulic fluid? This is my first crawler so any help is welcome relief.

The two lines you refer to are the Reverser oil cooler lines. The red fluid is probably just the color choice of what ever brand of Tractor hydraulic fluid the former owner used.

Thanks for the info. The machine is "new" so i haven't got a chance to go through it. Saved it a few weeks ago from someone who was going to sell it for scrap!

Changing all fluids is on the to do list before putting her to work but i was confused by the red fluid. I have 3 farm tractors but never knew there was red hydraulic fluid. Was beginning to think someone put transmission or power steering fluid in it.

Didn't want to change fluids until i saw what needs to be ripped apart so i don't end up having to drain new fluid. Guess i didnt catch the red tint on the reverser dip stick. :oops:

Just do as Ken has said and I would like to add that a good tech manual and operators manual are great additions to have around. They are worth every penny! Make sure you get the right books for your machine!
The red fluid is a little bothersome! It does make me wonder just what they may have put in this thing. Although I have seen different colors in different brands of fluids. Most of which are usually clear to light brown or even yellow and green. Still, only tints of these colors and the fluid is mostly clear. But, a good change of all the fluids and filters will do you and the machine tons of good. Good luck with it! :D

The red fluid is ATF. We have been using ATF in deere 350 reversers for over 30 years with no issues. These are wide pad machines with angle dozers on the loaders, higher horse power engines and 9550 hoes so I would say AFT holds up well under extreme usage.

We switched to ATF as it a lighter weight than the very expense deere oil or its direct replacement THG Fluid (Transmission Hydraulic Gear Oil). The ATF lets you the engine spin over faster for cold weather starting. I believe that ATF and THG are the same price.

Re-connect your lines and then top up your fluid. Its the dip stick near the brake pedal.

These are pressure lines and can be problematic if you don't get a good connection. We double up on the hose clamps where possible and make sure the steel lines are not rubbing on the frame. If its dirty, drain your oil and change your filter and re-fill.
