You will love this, Steering clutch problem
My right clutch went bad while useing my 69 JD450. I let it sit as I didn't have time to fix. About four days ago I took the covers off the side and top, the shaft controling the throw out bearing was stiff and not releasing the presure plate. After spending the next three days spraying PB blaster on the top of the shaft it didn't free it any. So yesterday I took it apart. In it's past life someone must have lost something down in the clutch housing.I found a 3/16" welding rod ( it still had flux on part of it ) with a hook bent on the end stuck behind the throwout bearing, and it couldn't release. Of course it allowed the clutch to slip , and now from sitting the pressure plate will not release. So I guess now I will pull the whole clutch and rebuild it. Don't ya just love it?
