450B transmission cooler

Post by np205 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 6:32 am

Had the nose off of my 450B doing some water pump repair work.

After cranking engine and allowing to warm up, found a small pin hole in the transmission cooler coil.

Called JD dealer, they said replacement unit was $1200.

Is there an aftermarket dealer for these coils?

Local radiator shop said they could repair it.

Anyone had experience with this?

Looked in the forums didn't find much about the 450B transmission cooler.

Is the rad shop going to bypass the leak or fix the leak. If they are going to fix it I would go ahead. I am sure if you ask the rad shop they could price you a new core

Will check both options.

Would prefer a new core while the nose is off.
(Cleaned about 100 lbs of smuck out of the nose and skid pan)

Looked on the net for aftermarket parts, found nothing.

I had the radiator shop cook out and repair mine on my 450 3 years ago and am still happy with their work.
