barn find she was sat for many years , once i worked out afew gunked up lines and changed all the fluids and filters and alittle undercarriage work she has been great. my only complaint is the shift crispness between high/low to reverse .. its just too snappy im afraid it will damage smthing without clutching alittle.. any way to adjust this?

Welcome to the Boards.
Yes, speed of shift can be adjusted. The 450E has a two-volume set of Technical Manuals. TM1330OP is the Operation and Test Manual used to check operating specifics, adjustments and diagnostics. It has the info on adjusting the speed of shift and other adjustments that may need to be done if a basic adjustment doesn't solve the problem. TM1330RE is the nuts-and-bolts manual needed if you were rebuilding the engine, power train, etc. For starters TM1330OP should give you the info you need to diagnose and make the adjustments to shift speed.
