The swing cylinder on my John Deere 410 backhoe was leaking around 1 gallon of hydraulic oil an hour. It was time to reseal it. This uses the round rotary swing cylinder that is also used on some 350,450 and other crawlers with a backhoe. I only took a few pictures but thought it might help someone else get this job done. I called the nearest JD dealer looking for a repair kit (au40976) and was told that it was obsolete and not available. So I used the advise that Jim B has given some people on this site. And ask the parts man if he could do a system search and see if any other dealer might still have one. This showed 1 dealer with the kit in inventory. The parts man gave me the dealer name and phone number. So I called and the parts man there told me that that kit is obsolete and not available. I told him that my local dealer had done a system check and it showed that they had 1 in stock. So he checked and sure enough they had 1 in the shelf. Problem solved.
This was the leaker before removal.
Removal wasn’t to bad. Ready for disassembly
Removing the vane from the shaft. 6 bolts and 8 dowels hardest part of the repair
All the parts cleaned up
Old parts on the left new parts on the right
No more external leaks. The old internal seals were leaking also, so now is much more positive.

Thanks Leonard
A bearcat is a good description.
I put the job off for a few months thinking I had to remove the boom. I finally looked in the 410 shop manual and found out it could be removed and leave the boom on. The shop manual had helpful disassembly and assembly info. The outrigger hydraulic cylinders are next.
Need to do a lot of digging in the spring.
