Pivot Pin
Pivot Pin
Hi a am rebuilding the blade on my 450c does anyone know the spacing (gap) between the main frame and the pivot plate on the back of the blade should be? I have all knew bushings i welded on new wear plates where retainers go but there seems to be about a 1/2 space between blade and main frame where pivot is.
Re: Pivot Pin
Welcome to the Boards.
Just a housekeeping note. Your posts on your 450C should be on the Late Models Board. The crawlers up to the 1010 and 2010 models are on this Early Models Board. The late models starting with the 350 and 450 crawlers go on the Late Models Board. Not anything show stopping, but don't be surprised if it gets moved to the Late Models Board.
As for the gap at the center pivot of the angling frame. Is the blade tight to the pads at the ends of the angling frame? If so, you aren't going to close the center gap up. Does it appear to have major wear around the pivot bushing in the back of the blade and the plate the pivot pin is on? Could the plates you welded on out at the retainers be thicker than the old ones? Did you cut the old plate completely out and replace with the same or use overlay plates?

Re: Pivot Pin
The pads are going to wear where there is moving metal to metal contact. I would shim the retainers per the manual and try it. The center pin is just a pivot point, I don't think the gap will bother.
