Hello
I just picked up a JD 350c dozer
I was told the number two cylinder is dead and needs new piston and rings
My question is where do I get parts?
Also to remove the skid plate under the engine, do you tilt the dozer on its side?
Jd 350c engine piston and rings replace
Re: Jd 350c engine piston and rings replace
Welcome to the Boards.
No, you do not tip the crawler on it's side to remove the skid plate (belly pan). You work under the crawler and lower it with a jack or other lifting device.
The first thing you need to do is acquire the correct service or technical manual for your crawler to guide you. As many straight 350s have been labeled as 350Cs over the years that needs to be checked since the manuals and parts have some differences. What is your serial number? Does it start 350C or 350 C? The location of the space is important.
There are many sources for manuals and parts. Lavoy, owner and provider of this site is the place to start. He may stock what you need, or have sources to fill your needs. His business is working on JD crawlers so he is a resource if you have problems.

Ok, 1977 350C. Below is a link to the 350C parts catalog PC1480. There is info in it to help you identify the piston and liner you need, from the several that might have been used. Lavoy may be able to help you, if you call him.
