Welcome to the Boards.

With a 750J (built 2007 to 2012) you are very much beyond the new side of crawlers typically found here. The 450E, with the H-L-R transmissions is about the new end of the majority of the machine vintages here. Hopefully someone will have some direct hands-on experience with one. In the meantime, I will post a couple thoughts which should apply.

There are two technical manuals required for the 750J, and possibly some component manuals. The Test and Operation Manual which has the info for checking operating condition and diagnosing issues, getting the correct OP & Test manual is serial number dependent. The Repair manual (TM10295) appears to cover all 750Js, it has info on breaking the track chains for the different type chains. Do you have the manuals for your 750J? I will ask what your level of experience with crawler track maintenance is? These are heavy parts; one slip can mean serious injury.

The parts book shows the track adjuster to be an inline cylinder arrangement seated in a recoil spring and bolted to the idler bearing blocks. I don't understand how it could have "flipped over". Did it lose or shear the capscrews holding it to the idler blocks and rotate out of line with the blocks?

As for breaking the track. Do your tracks have the split master links or regular master pins? If it has the split (serrated, alligator) type master links, removing the four pad bolts allows separating the link halves. If it has the regular pin type master link, look for a pin with a center hole drilled in the end of it. That should be the master pin. I am going to say you are going to want to find someone with the proper pin press to split (and to reconnect the links) the track for you. I believe those are sealed and lubricated tracks, heating and beating can lead to expensive results.

Best regards,
Jim

Sorry I didn’t get back sooner. I just now seeing your reply.
I got the track split and laid out. I also got front idler and part of tensioner shaft out with the back housing with the recall spring on it. I can’t seem to get it to pull out the front and I didn’t know if there was something holding it at the back of it everything I’ve seen says it just slides in there and slides back out. Would you happen to know and I believe the machine is a 2005. Serial number T0750JX113371.

No, I do not have any manuals for it. As far as it flipping over just the housing with the recall spring on it has flipped half over, not the front part that hooks to the idler.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any open published lists that give serial number to year breakdowns for newer machines, like your 750J. Your dealer should be able to tell you.

I can't help you with your adjuster issue beyond what I can see in the parts catalog, never had hands on anything that new. I am not sure what you are trying to pull out. In the parts catalog it looks like the adjuster cylinder is held in the spring, and other components at the rear of the spring, by a locking collar and would be removed as an assembly to be serviced. The links below are what I am looking at in the parts catalog.

I do not know of or see any free manuals online, so purchase is required to get them. Several manuals are required to have the full set. If you want to get the correct manuals for your machine, I suggest you use the link below to go to the JD Construction and Forestry Bookstore. On that home page you can scroll down, and, on the left, you will find a box to click for help contact info. There is a phone number there you can call. With your model info and serial number, they should be able to help you choose the right publications for your machine, according to info JD has given them. That is the official bookstore for the John Deere Construction and Forestry Equipment. It is a third party; they cannot answer technical questions about machines, you need to talk with your dealer about such.

Again, sorry you aren't getting much help here. As I posted originally you are very much on the new end of the JD spectrum asking on a site which focuses more on the old green crawlers up to the 450D series.

Good luck. If there is any follow up on the fix it would help people as they come here in the future with newer machines like yours, if you felt like posting such.

Best regards,
Jim
