Hi all, new member here. I recently picked up a 84 450D dozer and am changing all the fluids, filters and a few pins and bushings. My manual calls for 7 gallons in each steering clutch housing and 8 in the transmission. I can’t find anything that specifically states this is a common sump system but I assume it is, as most of the C models are.
My question is on the fill procedure, I filled the clutch housings through the 1/2” drive plug just above the track and sprockets, I was able to get about 6 gallons in each side before it ran out of the hole. I put 8 in the trans and it shows overfull on the dipstick. I let it sit overnight thinking it would leak down into the clutches and show a lower level on the dipstick. It’s still showing the same overfull level. How do I get another gallon in each steering clutch to get the system to the appropriate level?
Thanks in advance!
Tyler
