Looking for large drum plug for top of trans.

Post by Bobby H. » Wed May 29, 2024 10:02 am

Looking for the large drum plug to cover the trans pressure port. I misplaced the one I took out when checking pressure and leaving gauge for a month and half. It is a smaller size than a regular drum plug. there is no part # in the parts catalog. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you asking about the rubber plug, part number T20945, in the top of the clutch housing?

Or what they call a pipe plug in the transmission cover. Part number is AT13021, and it appears it includes the gasket with the plug for that part number.

Hi,

The large drum plug is exactly that: The larger of the two sealing plugs from the top of a 55 gallon drum.

Well I checked with Deere and the AT13021 is not longer available. So I am on the search for a low mileage one. :)

okay I will retry this weekend when I go back to the ranch. The one I tried didn't fit but I may not have been holding my mouth right.

apparently there is two different size large drum plus. I have a pump to go into 55 gallon drums and it has two different size threads for two large drum plugs. Sure enough it is the smaller of the two. Soooo I am on the look out for the right size drum plug. I have a 20 gallon drum and it is the same size as the large 55 gallon. Anyone have any idea what drum uses the smaller large drum plug???

If the standard 2" drum plug is too big, go to a hardware store and get a 1-1/2" PVC pipe plug and try that. Those are inexpensive to try and if it works you can get a metal one.

Just to clarify. Did you go to a "yellow" JD dealer? I ask as people have gone to the Ag dealers, and they can get parts for yellow equipment that were used on ag tractors, if not they can't get them (at least that is what my Ag dealer told me when I tried to get a part for my crawler. Second did the dealer do a system search to see if another dealer might have one?

Check with Lavoy, he might have a contact for a used one.

Yes I did check with the yellow guys. I have run into that in the past. I'll try the 1 1/2 plug. Having a pump that is threaded for 2 different sizes is what got me to thinking. Did not realize there was 2 sizes.

Okay guys. I have to confess the large drum plug I have been searching for was Found . You know how it is when you put something somewhere so you don't forget? Well I had put it in the right side box in the tray with all my extra bolts and nuts where I fill the hydraulic oil. I feel so stupid.
