J.D.350 steering clutch replacement
J.D.350 steering clutch replacement
Just finished rebuilding both final drives on my 350, left side perfect, right side no control. New pressure plate and bi metallic discs. Any ideas? Thanks

So... helps us out a bit. You say no control but what does it do? Does it pull at all on that side? Does it slip? What's it doing exactly.

Re: J.D.350 steering clutch replacement
Bad move my part, replaced bi metallic discs, thrust bearing, pressure plate, seals and bearings. did not replace steel discs, looked good to me, but never miked them. Looked down the hole seems like the spring for the shaft the thrust bearing rides on has come loose. Parts came from authorized JD dealer, they ate me up, lol. I am thinking the thrust bearing not making enough contact with thrust bearing to disengage discs.
Re: J.D.350 steering clutch replacement
Did you set the pressure plate fingers with the clutch gauge prior to installing the final? Have you tried adjusting the throwout bearing to proper spec?
Too late now, but I have the the steering clutch parts in stock other than the metallic discs.
