Creampuff or a $cheap$ fixer?
New to this Web-site. QUESTION: If I buy a Truly creampuff 450 without a backhoe vs a So-so ‘Left Clutch’ issue WITH A Backhoe, is the value of the hoe worth more than a Dealer done Clutch job??
Re: Creampuff or a $cheap$ fixer?
First off...there really is nothing cheap about dozers....now if all you need is a good working dozer and not a backhoe then choice s obvious ...next issue is price versus fixing problems on the "cheaper"unit, example ..if one clutch is worn out the other may well be close to that event as well, that will probably be close to thousand dollars each to replace parts plus your labor or hired labor..not considering what may need done for the hoe. if you talking half as much for cheaper one and can fix it to the higher ones cost then the choice is yours. and have use for the hoe and dozer...course you have not specified whether dozer or loader..

If you are thinking selling the hoe will pay for the cost of the dealer repair, I would not count on that. If you need a hoe you can figure its value to you. If you plan to sell it; the hoe will be worth however much a buyer will pay for it, not always the amount you may want or need. I don't know that the market for them is very large, most people would rather have mini excavators now. Have you gotten even a ball park estimate from a dealer to get an idea of what you would need to net from the hoe?

Unless the backhoe is gold plated, no. At $130/hour on a machine that they likely don't have a flat rate manual for, and a mechanic that was born 20 years after the crawler, and doing it on a time a materials basis, I bet you can't get it done for $4000 minimum.

Hi,
Read my tag line. Guess how it came to be.
And, I wouldn't want a hoe on a crawler if you gave it to me. They are hard on the U/C. Very Hard. So, less than zero value here.
