High oil pressure
High oil pressure
The oil pressure on my JD 350C dozer is reading 75. What can cause this?

Hi,
Worn bearings slip some right before they spin, then block the holes and increase the oil pressure. Did it just pop on up all of a sudden? This is how that problem acts. Of course, if this is it, it won't last long before the oil pressure goes the other way and a big knock shows up.....
I'd use a real (meaning not a cheap one meant for cars, trucks or tractors, but a good one) pressure gauge on the port and make sure it isn't just wear inside the gauge you have causing the pointer gear to jump a tooth.
I just had an air compressor gauge go reading 30 extra PSI because it jumped a tooth. Meaning, it read 30 PSI empty instead of zero.....

It has been reading 75 ever since I put a rebuilt engine in.Stan Disbrow wrote:Hi,

I'm thinking you might have added that little tidbit of information in the first post. Is this a diesel or gas?teocdoc wrote:It has been reading 75 ever since I put a rebuilt engine in.
If the gage is indeed good and it's been like this since you've installed the rebuilt motor.... Sounds like the engine oil pressure relief valve need to be adjusted. Remove a shim and see it goes down.

. It is a diesel, 1978 model, 3 cylinder. It's been about 6 months since the engine swap out and I've probably run it only 8 hours since then not knowing the danger of high oil pressure until someone told me. Where is the engine oil relief valve on this model?DrLoch wrote:I'm thinking you might have added that little tidbit of information in the first post.
