John deere 450B CLUTHES

Post by harvesthill » Sun Apr 28, 2013 3:24 pm

Okay here is the question. On a 450b how many fiber clutches should there be and how many steel ones. When I took mine apart it had nine fiber and eight steel. Which one fiber and steel was on the other side of the snap ring on the inner hub. The manual and I think the JD parts page call for eight fiber and seven steel. Anyone who wants to chimenin would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

450B calls for 9 fibers and as required on the steel which when new would be 8 (and after wear to the limit of the pressure plate/adjustment you could add one more steel to make up for said wear) and as for the snap ring it locates the center hub... it goes in AFTER the first fiber and is inside of the steel as it is smaller outside diameter then the inside diameter of a steel then your next fiber holds the hub in place
