Putting a bucket on a 350C

Post by MarkW » Wed Feb 08, 2012 5:36 pm

Here is my dilemma- I would like to figure out how to mount a 5 gallon plastic bucket on my 350C loader for a place to put all the various odds and ends. I have a few chains and I would like to keep other stuff too, like the bucket and the coffee can that go over the intake and exhaust. A plastic 5 gallon bucket would be nice as after I have all that stuff in the bottom, there will still be room for a fire extinguisher on top of everything.

Right now I keep my chains looped over the ROP bars, but it is a hassle if you are taking them on and off of stuff repeatedly as I have found that even if you are only moving forwards 100 feet, if you put a chain on the left hand armrest it will slide forward and try to give you full speed ahead...

Anyway, I know someone here must have figured out a clever way to keep stuff handy without the bucket either being in the way or hanging somewhere it will eventually get torn off or flattened.

Thanks!

Mark

Mark,
I've seen guys fabricate a steel box and mount them to one step or the other. They just used the step bolts to hold them in place. I have also seen guys build out from the back two posts on the ROPS with carrying baskets made of expanded metal. Not sure how far I would recommend that one as when you weld onto the ROPS you might compromise the strength a little.
The best one I saw was a guy built up from the ROPS brackets in the back and built a nice tool box and carrying basket combined. However if you have the backhoe then that would be in the way for that.
There is some room in the battery box area, if you are using a single battery. You just need to make sure you have your battery posts insulated. Especially the Positive post and if you have the master shut off switch, then you will need to insulate it as well.
There just isn't a whole lot of options there. Finding a spot for a five gallon bucket would be tough.
I have mounted fire extinguishers onto the inside of the ROPS posts by using heavy duty hose clamps. I have also built a fire extinguisher holder out of pipe and mounted them to the steps.
I'm assuming of course that you have a ROPS. Most 350Cs I've seen do have.
I'm used to having full fire cages on just about everything I've worked on and those things gave us tons of places to mount things.
