I am replacing both track adjusters on my 450C, and the manual says the following regarding compressing and removing the spring -- TM 1102, 60, 10-18 :
Insert a T16678 Special Bolt with 1.OO inch (25 mm) spacer through the track spring retainer plate and thread into the rear spring cap (Fig. 22). Tighten bolt until spring is free. Lift spring from track frame.
Do I need Ma Deere's "Special Bolt" or is there another mechanic trick to this? Thanks for a reply!

In addition to the original post, I've since talked with several mechanics that tell me I may not need to remove the springs to replace the adjusters. These are very worn chains with the idlers all the way to the front of the track frames. I plan to replace the adjusters now, with new tracks in a couple of months as time and $$ allow.

As posted in pictures for my 450C track replacement, no need to remove the spring to switch out the hydraulic tensioners.
