350B brake adjuster stuck and injector pump ???'s
I need to adjust the steering clutch on the left side of a 350 B and the 3/4" bolt (wrench size) for the brake adjuster is stuck. I put a cheeter bar on it but am afraid I will break something. Not sure if I could heat it a little or maybe a little penatrating oil? Also the motor acted like it ran out of fuel last fall. i t kept running slower and slower until finnally I was at full throttle but the engine was at a fast idle. I shut it down and pulled it home. I called our diesel service guy and he said there was probably a plug in the check valve at the pump. I took the valve out and reattatched the return line, the machine ran fine for a few hours but now is missing when under load. When I took out the check valve it was really clean. The tech guy said there might be some stuff in there that would look like pepper from a seal that failed. Anyway to the question-- does this sound like a pump problem--the missing I mean-- or something else? The tech said he would "work on it" for $500 = or - I don't mind spending the $ if it will fix it but the clean check valve is a question. I think the pump is the newer stanadyne model but someone has replaced it because it is JD green not yellow. Thanks, Todd
I can't speak to the brake adjuster, other than I would think it would not be a problem to try a little PB Blaster on it.
As for the injector pump, there have been a lot of posts on this site about the problem with "mouse turd" remnants of the plastic rings plugging up the injector pump on 350s. Do a search on here, especially posts from Jdemaris, and you'll see some detailed discussion on the symptoms and causes.
