I found this generator that came off of a 420. I am rebuilding it with all new parts and converting it to 12 volt output for my 440IC. It will look exactly like the original generator including tag and numbers when I finish.
It will be painted JD Old Construction Yellow.

Waiting for the new "guts" to get here so I can rebuild it. It will be a brand new generator converted to 12 volts.

That is a great idea, I had not really considered that. I saw some "12 V" decals somewhere, I will try to locate them and place them on it in a place that cannot be seen when it is mounted on the 440 IC.

Looks good. I thought it was nearly impossible to get some of the parts, or is that a different story if the internals are for 12 volt?
I painted mine up nice like that, except I made it Delco-Remy colors with a black body and red tag. I know it ain't right, but I don't agree with Deere blasting everything with their own color.

Finished product, just needs some touch up on the paint.
The only sad part is that it will likely still be running when I am not.

The halogen headlights would be nice but a stereo system may drown out the great sound of the Dubuque two cyclinder engine. Now that would be a pure shame!
It can seriously pull some better headlights now with 12 volts.
