My friend Greg Ring asked me and for the likes of me I did not have a good answer. Just supposition.
When riveting brake linings. Why cant pop rivets be used? Do they bite too hard and destroy the lining? (my supposition there). Granted its not original. Yet is there a reason? Perhaps you have had some knowledge about it?
Thankyou.
Hey Lavoy, I have a dumb question.

I have no idea why not. My only guess would be to use steel rather than aluminum due to strength, but then you may have some corrosion issues.

I found a forum discussion on this issue-pretty interesting:Willyr wrote: When riveting brake linings. Why cant pop rivets be used? Do they bite too hard and destroy the lining? (my supposition there). Granted its not original. Yet is there a reason? Perhaps you have had some knowledge about it?.
