440ICD Generator (12V)

Post by jac » Fri May 12, 2006 9:09 pm

Need to test the generator on my 440ICD. It was disconnected when I bought the crawler so likely has issues. I currently have the engine out and the generator off. If this thing works, I should be able to hook it up to a battery and spin it. Want to make sure I do this correctly. The battery (+) should hook up to the "A" terminal on the generator and the battery (-) should hook up to the "F" terminal? Is this correct? Is this a safe method to test or would it be better to attach a motor and v-belt to it, spin it and test it that way?

It has been a long time since I did this, but I think you hook the ground to the body itself, and the hot to the A terminal, but don't quote me.
