I have a 420C that does not run, and I want to check the gages to see if they work.
Is there a way to check the amp and temp gages with a meter?
Thank you
Brian

If the temp gauge is a live gauge then all you would need to do is put the probe/sender in a pan of hot water to check it. As far as the amp gauge you can check it a couple of ways. You can put a carbon pile load in series with gauge and battery and slowly increase load to see if they match. Be careful though the gauge is probably 30 or 50 amp. Most carbon piles will go past 50 amps in a heart beat. With that being said you could also use a fixed value resistor and ohm's law to check the amp gauge. All hooked in series. If you need anymore info let me know and I can walk you thru it.
Also, you can take a continuity reading across terminals but that will not necessarily tell you if the gauge will read correctly. Hope this helps.
