Poping sound

Post by waynefi » Fri Aug 19, 2005 9:35 am

I have been having trouble with my steering on my 440ic. The steering levers are very sloppy and I can not seem to adj. them. Yesterday I had the cover off of the adj for the steering clutchs and when I pull on the steering lever hear a popping sound from the right throw out bearing area.

Is the bearing damaged?
Are the fingers on the clutch damaged?
Am I opening up a can of worms?

This is my first crawler. The motor seems strong and a good starter. There are a few leaks on the hyd. sys. and there is some wear and tear but to me the overall condition is fair. It also came with a 6way blade.

Wayne,
Something is either grossly out of adjustment, one of the 3 balls may have broken, or may be up out of its cup. Either way, best bet is probably to pull the final, and check everything out.
