I have been welding up holes in the base of my old oil bath air cleaner for this 2-53 detroit.
I was wondering if I can get some type of air cleaner that has an eliment instead of this old type oil bath aire cleaner.
where can I get it?
is there a specific model number?
how much do they run?
thanks

When I bought my 440ICD/831 the air cleaner was missing. After searching around for a while one diesel shop suggested to me that I should look into a throw away filter. I am running a Baldwin PA2803. It is a pleated paper filter about 8" in diameter and about 10' long. Came complete with a metal outer shell and a rubber gromet for an outlet fitting. I took the filter to a local muffler shop and got a piece of exhaust tubing about a foot long. It fit perfectly into the filter and they expanded the other end to fit the rubber elbow that comes off the blower and replaced the steel tube that ran to the original filter. The filter lays sideways right beside the fuel tank in the area the original filter used. I built a bracket out of 3" angle iron that mounts to the two bolts that mount the fuel filter. The other arm of the angle iron supports my new connector pipe. About $20 for the filter and a couple dollars at the muffler shop. So far so good.
