440 on e-bay

Post by Howard Yoder » Sun Jun 18, 2006 8:17 pm

Lavoy check out this 440 on e-bay I have never seen a 440 with the throtle in the middle of the dash like this one. Item #7629290097 if this was closer I would be interested in it because it appears to be in decent shape.

If you ever see me refer to a "center throttle" 440, that is what I am referring to. The very last 440's had this throttle design. They also have 1010 final drive cases and sprockets, as well as different axles and different steering clutches.

Mine is the later style 440. I hadn't realized the finals were like the 1010 crawlers. Thats good to know!

Well I,m confused now I"m right in the middle of rebuilding a final drive on my late 60 production 440 icd. It needs a new or a less worn axle. How can you tell the differents?

I do not remember the measurements for sure, but a 1010 axle is something like 1/2" longer than a late 440 axle.
