What torque should bull center retaining bolts be tightened

Post by sam » Fri Jun 23, 2006 5:23 pm

I think I over torqued mine the last time I had it down I think its split. I'll have it apart tommrow. Lavoy if you read this I'll be calling you.
Does jb weld on a worn axle shaft when you asemble it hold up? My 440 sees a lot of hard work trees, stumps etc.

I got it apart looks like bull center took most of the torture. I have about .035" gone from the axle shaft splines. Does anyone have an opinion. Will it last if I use it?
Question, can I use bolts in place of rivets when replacing bull gear?

I think if you have the axle and bull gear perfectly clean, you can glue it together with something. I have used JB weld in the past, I like Devcon Titanium Putty better because it is stronger. Whether it is necessary or not I don't know.
If you mean riveting or bolting the ring to the center, it should be hot riveted. If the ring has spun on the center at all, it most likely will not hold either way if it loose at all.
