Pics of #64 blade please?

Post by jackhdn » Sun May 14, 2006 8:42 am

Hi Everybody,

I'm looking to build a #64 style power angle blade for my 1960 440. If anyone here happens to have one and would not mind taking some pictures and measurements I would sure appreciate it. I have an old 63 blade which will be the start of my project.

Any other pics of home made power angle/tilt bladed would be great as well. Thanks very much.

Jack,

Take a look at the pictures on my website http://www.141.com/triumphs/jd440icd.html and if that is the style of blade you're talking about I'd be happy to get dimensions for you. My engine is out right now which makes it easier to take measurements.

Hi Brad,

Thanks for the offer but thats not it. Your blade is a #63 same as my current one. That is one rugged looking brush cage and push bars. Hope the project is coming along well.

The push bar definitely gives the crawler a larger than life look doesn't it! I had planned on removing it but after seeing the stumps that were dug up by a trackhoe on my property a few weeks ago I think I'll leave the push bar in place.

I wish I was making more progress on the crawler. The two liners refuse to come out of the block. It needs a piston and liner kit anyway but we don't want to damage anything removing the old liners, hence we're taking our time and soaking with rust penatrant.

I'm thinking about powering my #63 blade I have some plans in mind . The angleing looks simple but the tilt I think woud be more difficult. I don't think the slide where the wedges go would take the movement very long. If you've made any headway I'd love to see your work or plans. There are pictures on show and tell look on 59 440 ic restoration. don't know what blade it is but you can see how it works.

power blade thoughts/pics

Post by jackhdn » Thu Jun 15, 2006 7:33 pm

Hi Sam,

I actually drove down and looked at that 59 440 in the pics. It has to be one of the nicest old machines I've seen. Anyway, I looked over his factory power six-way. I took a bunch of rough measurements and Scott sent me some pics. Andrew who is also on the forum sent me pics of his 350 power blade.

Its not that hard to do if your a decent fabricator but you will have to butcher your 63 blade to do it. No going back. I've got too much going on right now to mess with it so the project will have to wait till winter.

Email me directly and I'll forward all the pics I have.
