440 Crawler with #63 Blade

Post by JAJ » Wed Mar 29, 2006 3:06 pm

Does anyone have access to the original dimensions which would locate the holes on the blade mounting brackets. These are the swivel brackets that are on the back side of the blade and actually mount the blade to the push beams. There are two holes in each bracket which allow the blade to be angled depending on which holes you use. My holes are so badly elongated and egg shaped that they nearly overlap each other. I would like to bore them out and add replaceable bushings. The dimensions would save me a lot of set up and screwing around. Lavoy, you wouldn't happen to have a better set of these floating around would you???
Thank you,
Jim

I don't have anything like that, and new ones went obsolete a couple of years ago.
I don't know if there is enough meat there to go big enough to put bushings in. I usually weld them back down instead. I did one on a 2010 with carbon rod and welded alongside it.

dozer swivel bracket dimensions

Post by lastchancegarage » Fri Mar 31, 2006 9:52 am

Jim,
I believe my dozer has the 63 blade. The right bracket seems to have very little wear so I can give you some pics/dimensions off of that side. When I got the machine the right pin had been driven through a slightly smaller washer which was placed between the bracket and the push bar. After rusting up a bit, I guess they just left it like that. I had a heck of a time with the sledgehammer driving it back out. They should be symetrical so I'll take the dimenions off that side. I'll see what I can do tonight when I get back. Later.

bracket dimensions

Post by lastchancegarage » Sun Apr 09, 2006 7:13 pm

Jim,
Here's a picture of the setup I used to get those dimensions. I've included a drawing to clarify how I got the measurements. Looking down on the bracket I noticed there's a flat area. That's the baseline for the two straightedges. Once you have those two edges established the measurements are taken from the edge of the straightedge, not the edge of the bracket casting.

I'm sure there are some JD drawings that might have slightly different numbers on their prints. These represent the best reproduceable measurements from my bracket. As I mentioned earlier, there's very little wear on the bracket.

If you should have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. Hope this helps.
