I have a 440IC and while replacing bearings in left final drive noticed that the bull gear has some fine cracks in the spline area. Is this normal for one of these due to its age? Anything I should be concerned with?

I am reassembling my left final steering/brake assembly (installed new brake band) and the brake seems a little tight and I am only using 1/2 the threads in the adjustment nut. Is this normal. Id like to back it off 1/2-1 turn but that doesn't leave much threads left in the nut. I know its going to ...
