Update:

Finally got the machine back together and it steers much better! Still some pulsating in the stick but maybe with use that will go away too. I suspect that might be rust on the steel clutch plates.

I’ll post a little update: I got the old brake band out (luckily my wife’s small little arms could reach in to take off that lower spring!
