How does this seal?
Had to remove bell housing from jd450 loader to replace seal. I am in process of reassembly. In order to get bell housing off, a 90 degree fitting must be unscrewed from the transmission front cover because it goes through a hole in the bell housing to attach to the transmission front cover. From th...

Re: Jd450 straight oil in bell housing. How to find it
I do have a service manual, but I have a really hard time following it. It isn’t written where my pea brain can understand. Plus, I’m not 100% my machine matches it. I’m not even sure this is the original transmission for this loader. It’s really confusing. I removed the front cover of the transmiss...

Re: Jd450 straight oil in bell housing. How to find it
Ok. Got bell housing off what a pain. Seal is definitely bad. Is there a bearing inside the front cover of the transmission? I can’t seem to find where it is on the parts breakdown.

Re: Jd450 straight oil in bell housing. How to find it
Ok. Finally got it to pump. Apparently the hlr clutch arm that has the 1/2” head nuts that you do your pressure adjustments with has some issue. The little lever was not going all the way down which is apparently where it should be when the clutch is in the driving position (all the way against the...

Re: Jd450 straight oil in bell housing. How to find it
Okay so my question is, where are you adding oil to replace what has leaked. Your leak can be either from the transmission or the machines hydraulic system. The two systems are not connected so if you're losing oil then where are you adding it back? Your drill idea should have worked even at low RP...

Re: Jd450 straight oil in bell housing. How to find it
Clockwise. I actually tried it both ways, but I spun the starter over and it appears the engine spins the input shaft clockwise. So I have the drill in forward. I did try the drill in both ways and it didn’t make a difference. I do have the two hoses that go to the top and bottom of the oil cooler s...

Jd450 straight oil in bell housing. How to find it
I am getting a lot of oil in bell housing. Like a gallon an hour. I have pulled engine and everything is soaked I. Hydraulic fluid. It is not motor oil from the rear main seal. I connected a large drill to an old clutch and turned the input shaft. Thinking this would build pressure and show where my...

Re: Jd 350b power reverser help
Could it be leaking in to where the steering clutch compartment is? If so, it would just be contained there. You wouldn't see it leaking. I have seen this on the 450 and the oil will eventually get on the steering clutches and cause them to slip. There are two drain holes for this compartment under ...

Jd 450 clutch adjustment problem
I have a “parts” crawler jd450 straight. It has been sitting for over a year with a bad clutch. It is actually in better shape than the one I’ve been workin on. So, I decided to try and fix it. I took engine out and sure enough the clutch was frozen to flywheel, but it was completely broken from the...

Jd 450 HLR wont move need part have pictures
After removing engine and replacing drive clutch from flywheel because loader would not move at all, there was no fix. So, I took transmission cover off. It was a pain to get off by the way. When I got it off I found a broken steel line that appears to go to the hlr control valve. Has anyone ever se...
