yeah i dont want to break anything .... i will continue to use 2nd gear with the reverser until it breaks ..... father john has 1-2 gear clusters once that happens im just very frustrated.... all that talk of “restoring” the 1010 from the previous owner and they didnt bother looking at the transmiss...

i read through my owners manual on my 1010 loader crawler about using the reverser .... is using the reverser while in reverse gear a good idea or a really bad idea ..... my 1-2 gear cluster is iffy but reverse works great and is the same ratio as 2nd .... currently the reverser gear is also working...

welp i ran my new 1010 dozer today moving rocks around .... amongst steering clutch problems on the right track, 1 st gear sounds like a fork in a blender how do i tell if its a bent fork in the trans shifter mechanism or a destroyed 1-2 gear cluster if i need to work on the trans or swap it out for...

my manuals are on the mail to me for my 1010 bucket dozer ....

what hydraulic fluid is recommended? the pistons on the dozer are huge and dont leak but the reservoir is low on the dipstick and id like to top it off before i start using the machine

do you know if there are appropriate grouser attachments or cleats that can be used on 1010 dozer tracks. my tracks are worn and im thinking of adding teeth or something to them

or can i source a different track set up

so i ran it today. motor was all redone honed cylinders and new rings and rebuilt head .... #4 misses alittle at startup with smoke .... after lifting heavy dirt for 5 minutes it got better .... no leaks anywhere.... all grease fittings are good and redone. tracks are so so .... worn but function ok...

thank you for the solid advice ... its for sale for the top range for what i have seen that sold recently over $7000 i plan on testing it out lifting items that weigh over 3000 lbs because he said it can lift 4500 easily i plan on clearing 4-6 acres on my farm that has small trees and mostly overgro...

what was the outcome here? im looking at a 1010 soon and no idea what to look out for

i going to look at my first jd 1010 crawler .... 1963 apparently engine and injector pump was rebuilt. what are the top things i need to look for as far as trouble areas and wear points? it has a bucket not a blade. its a diesel as well .... unknown hours current owner says it smokes at startup but ...
