Winch operation on a '68 450

Can anyone here explain to me how to operate the winch on a 68 450? It has a lever mounted on the rops.
The winch cable is tightened around a hook for storage. Don't want to tear the hook off by accident if I can help it!!

So what are the major differences between the 450 and 450B? The technical manual I got is for the B model, I was told it was a B when I bought it....... :?

The entire serial number is T5F3M (space) 074233T
The parts guy said that I was missing a digit. I looked at the serial # info on this site, and nothing under the 450B starts with 0.

Serial # help

I have what I believe is a 450B 6-way blade. Everything points to it being a 450B, Non turbo, dry clutches, etc. It was re painted at some point, so there are no original markings. I found the serial number where the manual said I would, but it is one digit short, and starts with a zero. I looked un...

Thanks for all the help, guys. I tried the tree test, and the brake test. Both times both the tracks came to a complete stop. I did notice that the right steering lever (the one not working) pulls back farther than the left one, and doesn't feel as stiff, almost like something down there isn't engag...

When I pull the left steering lever, the left track stops and the tractor turns left. The left side doesn't seem to be slipping, or slowing at all when I pull the right lever....

450B only turns left!

So I got a good deal on a 450B last week. Low time engine, decent UC. Small problem: It only makes left turns. I was hoping it needed something simple, like maybe a linkage adjustment, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I did notice that in high gear, if I yank the right steering clutch, and ho...
