The spring was in the right place. I have located a ring gear carrier here close to home, I am in the process of getting it. Thanks for the interest.

I would say it is above average condition, especially the undercarriage. The tracks,sprockets,rollers,etc. all looks like it was almost new when it was parked. I might take a closer look at it to consider restoring???

I was looking for parts for two crawlers I am restoring and ran across a 440 that is 100% complete. The owner is 89 years old, the motor went down while he was using it in 1976, it has been sitting ever since. Sounds like I need to find a ring gear carrier, do you know where I can find a used one ? I would rather replace it than shorten the axle.

I bought a 1010 crawler that someone else had been working on and it will not pull on the left side. We took it apart and found that the short axle that goes thru the cutting clutch into the ring gear and pinoin goes thru too far past the splines on the shaft where it goes thru the pinion. Sounds like I need to find a diesel engine, or some parts for the one that is in it. It has a 2-53 Detroit in it, any suggestions on where to start looking?

I have found a 440 diesel crawler that the engine is down, I would like to know if a gas engine will bolt in or does it require changes in the bellhousing,clutch,hydraulic pump drive,etc. ?? If you know where I could buy a complete gas or diesel engine that is in good condition, that will bolt right...
