When you take the plugs out of the top of both clutch housings you can see the right side "adjuster" moves/shifts quite a bit when you pull the right lever, I mean maybe 1/4". The left side also moves/shifts but only about 1/16". Just doesn't seem like there is a whole lot of "squeezing" going on in...

Had a guy that used to own the john deere dealership in town here come look at it and we adjusted it up as much as we could without it "turning over" he said. I assume it has some sort of cam in there that you can "flip" kind of like the brakes on a semi. I know looking/comparing it to the other sid...

Another 350C question

Mine is a 350C. I replaced all the oil except the hydrolics for the blade. It still will not turn left. If you pull back on the right lever it turns right, if you pull back on the left lever it keeps going straight unless you are backing up a hill or pushing a little dirt. If I pull back on both lev...

Thanks for the reply but I thought I read somewhere that the C was different from the straight, A, and B. I believe that on the C the tranny, clutches, and final are all lubed by the same oil and that the reverser was the same oil just in a separate resevoir. Then you had your hydrolic oil, then you...

fluids/oils

Going to change the oil in my 350c for the final drive and the reverser. I was told to use All purpose tractor fluid in both the reverser and the final drive/transmission. The oil I drained from the final drive definately seemed like gear oil. Smelled like it too. The guy I bought the dozer off of u...

Just went down and got an 1 1/2" pipe plug and some "majic blue". I think that is what it's called. It is thread sealer that won't break down in anything petroleum based like tranny fluid, hydro fluid, diesel, etc.

steering clutch housing

What is the "cap" that goes on top of the steering clutch housing under the seat of a 350C? In the john deere parts diagram they call it a "pipe plug". If I go to a hardware store and get a "pipe plug" (I'm guessing 1 1/2") would that be correct? I also see that in the parts diagram there is a "gask...

1980 JD 350CE

Just bought this dozer and it is going to need the left side steering clutch and I noticed that the right side final drive housing is cracked. Anybody know where I can find the housing and the best place to buy clutches?
