Seeping 440 Gas Fuel Tank At Outlet

What is the best way to seal the inside of a fuel tank?

Have a seeper, does not drip but always slightly wet at tank sump bottom.

Thanks,
Scott

John Deere Museum Moline, IL

There is a Very Nice 440IC with 831 Loader in the JD Center now.
It is just inside the main door.

Well worth the trip if you are a 440 Fan.

Late model, one of the last ones to roll off the Dubuque Line!

No Delco Tag.

Hand stamped into case is a 12V and nothing similar to a JD number.
I searched for the PT # that is hand stamped into case and nothing found.

Should I consider down sizing the diameter of the cable from battery to starter?

I will also look at the CCA for the battery.

Lavoy, It sounds like a 12v starter with big cables which is what I have will cause damage. Is it more likely the bendix drive gears will give out before the ring gear? Sounds like I need to find or have this 12 volt converted back to a 6v. It is stamped on the starter case 12v with a part number I ...

440 Starter

It was converted to 12V before I bought the crawler.

I believe you are right. They looked like a bent bracket and did attach to the intake bolts.

440 IC Upper Track Roller Replacement

Replacing both current track roller-base plate assemblies. Do not have the 1" spacer blocks under the rollers, now. Replacement rollers came with 2 spacer blocks. Any comments on the need to install spacers or still leave out? Not planning any track adjustments, currently plenty of sag to accomodate...

440 Transmission

I was talking about the transmission input shaft splines...the spline end that sticks out of the transmission and goes into the reverser.

Has anyone experienced broken input shaft splines when seperating the shafts?

440IC Early Model 5 Speed Transmission Overhaul

About ready to take the big plunge....!

On removal from the Crawler I am told the Input Shaft Splines (closest to engine) may be bad/cracked and condition not known until removal??

I have all known needed parts now except for a mainshaft. What could I expect to find with the input splines??

440IC Gas Early Model Transmission Rebuild

The 440 parts book says I need an M 4195 T Cluster Gear.

I have an M 1688 T Cluster raised letters on back side.
Should I keep looking or try it?

Any ideas where I can find the right one?

thanks,

440IC Gas Early Model Transmission Rebuild

Have located most of the main shaft gears for my 440 rebuild. Question on the M/S Cluster Gear? The one in the transmission now has a very small space between the two rowes of gear teeth. My replacement although appearing correct hub to hub length and teeth count, has a larger space between teeth an...
