I agree that it seems there are more 455G's than 555G's with the hoe, partly because I have one. I think around 25hp, about two tons, and longer undercarraige are about the only differences I know of. I believe all of the 5's are torque converter units and only the later years of 4's are that way. M...

Just spoke with salesman. Said its the first one hes ever seen and the pto IS hydraulically driven and that its a 540 style shaft. If it had a blade on it he said they would definitely part with that unit off the back but its of no use without that on it. That stinks but its what I figured.... And h...

http://www.rockanddirt.com/equipment-for-sale/JOHN-DEERE/450G/invnum=37017355 Just what the doctor ordered. Anyone ever seen a machine outfitted like this one in person? Says the pto is hydraulic powered so I'm interested to find out how much power it puts out. Ill call and ask the dealer what they ...

I meant if I went the stackable pump route the one I would select would have a max rpm of 3000 since my machine probly peaks at what 2600 maybe? And I got a figure online of 10,000 to 14,000 feet per min is a good tip speed for a heavy brush shredder. Now figure that into a 5' circle and you get som...

Awesome. Ill get that pump off this weekend. Ive noticed in youtube videos all the skids seem to nibble at the brush from the edge...dive in a bit and back out and so on. I would do the same as I dont care how fast it gets done. Dont you think have a super heavy rotating mass would help that? like s...

That is the way to do it.... 75 HP.... There's that physics thing again They mean the gearbox will handle up to 75hp. Not that you need that much to run it. I still dont know why some manufacturers use that 90 degree gearbox when you can mount the hyd motor vertically and eliminate that part altoge...

Can anyone confirm for me if the transmission operates as normal when power beyond is active? I can deal with setting the loader at one position and combing thru it, then lowering it and going over again. I would have time since I wouldn't be renting it. I put together a price of 1700 to rent the sk...

Thank you Lavoy for the info. I come here for the benefit of others experience and appreciate all I can get. Am I the only one frustrated with the limitations of our crawlers?!? It seems my local rental place just added to their fleet of junk new holland skid steers, two new 329E deere CTL's so mayb...

The loader in the pic is a 175 I think and the owner did a TON of work to it after the purchase. The story is a great read. From what I remember its an IH inline 6 cyl turbo weighing in at 16 tons. So on that alone I'd guess a two yard bucket, way bigger cylinders to fill and therefore larger pump t...

I just stopped at my local deere dealer and one service tech offered up this info. My machine since its direct drive should still be able to drive forward and back when the power beyond is active. This means I would get full pump flow to run my brush hog and I see manufacturers building them to run ...

That is an easier solution but my G series machine was built after they decided track machines have no business in farming and dropped the pto option. So it may work for you but not me. I thought buying a G series machine would be the way to go in terms of better engineering and here I missed out on...

Maybe the service manager was guessing so I could leave him alone sooner but that's what he said. Wouldn't be the first manager full of bologna. I really liked Paul's idea with the flail mower tho. Lets say I had a system that would barely drive either mower....I would think the rotating mass of a 6...

I found a used alamo 21' flail (three 8 foot pcs) with a bit of overlap for 400 bucks with the hydraulic motor still on it. Looks to be in useable condition for what I want. I downloaded the manual and it says the center pc is PTO driven and the wings are driven hydraulically which is done by a pump...
